The Botanical Garden of Neuchâtel has joined the DBGI network, formalising a long-standing collaboration with the Plant Eco-Metabolomics Group at the University of Neuchâtel.
The garden maintains eight botanical spaces, ranging from an evolution garden and medicinal-plant collections to an alpinum and greenhouses. This variety brings plants from contrasting taxonomic and environmental contexts within reach of a coordinated sampling campaign.
Blaise Mulhauser, director of the garden, and Nicolas Ruch, its head curator, helped open the collections to the project and adapt DBGI procedures to the garden’s established horticultural and documentation practices.
The first DBGI sampling campaign began on 9 May 2023, when members of the Plant Eco-Metabolomics Group brought the initiative’s standardised collection and traceability workflows to the garden. The partnership supports research connecting botanical collections, ethnobotany, plant ecology and metabolomics.
