MetaDiv will investigate why plants produce such diverse chemistry and how that diversity is shaped across species, environments and evolutionary lineages. The project will combine metabolomics with ecological, functional and phylogenetic information drawn from botanical garden collections and field research.
Its focus on plant chemical diversity is closely connected to DBGI’s effort to build traceable, reusable links among living collections, biological metadata and metabolomics data. The work is based in the Plant Eco-Metabolomics Group at the University of Neuchâtel.
